My hair needs quite a bit of TLC when it comes to looking after it, I try to use the best conditioning products and oils to keep it in a healthy condition. As far as styling goes it’s either up, down or half up, half down. Theres nothing else to it and I don’t have the patients to sit and braid my hair or do anything fancy, I would also prefer the extra half an hour in bed to be quite frank.
I tend to only brush my hair once a week so when I do brush it I can lose a fair bit of hair. Loosing hair can be quite common and also very frustrating, you always wonder if it’s something you’re using or doing differently but wrapping your head around what exactly that is can be tough. Over the years I’ve gone through stages of loosing a lot of hair, I’ve never been too worried because my hair is very thick and there’s a lot of it so I never notice the difference, It’s only when dads moaning at me for blocking the drains that it’s an issue. A lot of people can suffer with extreme hair loss to the point where they seek for treatment such as Fue Hair Transplant. I’m lucky enough that it’s not at this point but very aware it could happen to myself or anyone in the future.
My main focus when it comes to styling my hair is keeping the curls tight and not frizzy. I’ve found what works best for me is not using shampoo and condition in every wash. I do a proper wash once a week, usually on a Sunday and for the rest of the week I just use water, this may sound strange to some people but it keeps it in a healthier condition, clean and stops it going greasy.
I wanted to share the products that have worked for me, as someone with hair that needs a lot of conditioning, finding the right products is vital and not as easy as one may think.
I apply this oil on to the bottom half of my hair when its damp and it keeps it looking shiny and healthy for the day. I bought this from T K Max a couple of years ago when I was looking for a basic oil to use everyday and keep the more expensive products for every now and then. It’s lasted me a very long time and unfortunately I don’t think I’ll find it again as I believe it’s a USA product. The best thing about this product is it doesn’t feel greasy when you run your hairs through it, a lot of oils I’ve come across make me want to wash my hands after but this is so thin It doesn’t bother me.
Moroccan Oil || £13.45
The most well known and definitely one of my favourites is Moroccan Oil, this is great for putting a bit of life back into the ends of your hair, you really only need a tiny bit so the smaller bottle always goes a long way. This is for all hair types and also available in 100ml/125ml.
Lani – Tropical Hair Treatment 100ml || 10.99
If we are rating by smell this is top of my list, WHO DOESN’T LOVE COCONUT SMELLING HAIR!
If you’re looking for a natural and vegan hair product this is the one, it’s a multi-use hair saviour, not only is it great for taming that unwanted frizz it also protects your hair from damage cause by the sun, sea and chlorinated water. You can use it as an over night treatment or pre-shampoo. I’ve used this for years and it’s definitely been successful in repairing my hair.
I’ve always had a quite sensitive scalp; for years I’ve tried different conditioning shampoos that would help my hair but so many made my scalp itchy and because I have thick hair it can feel extremely uncomfortable and become irritated. Turns out I just needed to be using something as basic as Head & Shoulders. This does wonders for my hair and scalp. Most people think it’s just for people with dandruff but its put my hair in a better condition and stoped any irritating. I then use OGX Smooth Shampoo on the ends of my hair, which strengthens and softens the hair giving it a glow. I never use this on the top half as it can make it a little greasy. You only need to apply a small amount so a little bottle like this one will last you a while.
OGX offer a few different versions to choose from. I only use the shampoo but they also sell conditioner.
Have you tried any of the products I’ve mentioned?
